Our chair comes from Roland’s workshop in Ambositra, a place in the highlands that has always supplied furniture to Madagascar and is famous for its carving workshops. The hardwood used is rosewood, a species that is now subject to worldwide trade restrictions and thus constantly gaining in value.
The wood was creamed and polished, so it can be maintained further. In the back and seat typical Malagasy patterns are incorporated. These can be the symbolism of zafimaniry with the astrological significance or motifs from the everyday world such as animals, plants and the AloAlo piles. The motives are very diverse, let yourself be surprised.
Rosewood is a tropical wood similar to our oak, which can have different shades of color from yellow to red to deep brown, even in one piece. The color shades are natural and not a reason to complain.
