In case of silicified wood, the wood substance is replaced by silicic acid (SiO2). Mineralized wood may consist of various minerals, e.g. Pyrite (pyritised wood) or hematite. Phosphorized wood is relatively rare and consists of phosphate minerals, especially apatite. The calcitized woods are dominated by calcite. But there are also known woods from dolomite.
