Our colorful bags are made by hand from pure natural materials. For the corpus, the dried and spliced ​​grass of a water lily (Tsia) is used which is elaborately woven. Tsia is also used in Madagascar for mats and wall coverings and is characterized by lightness with robust fiber. For the outer shell, the producers use the raffia of Madagascar native Raphia palm (farinifera or rufia) which forms up to 20 meters, the largest leaves of the plant kingdom. The hard fibers of the young leaves are extremely elastic but firm and have a silky shine. Only in Madagascar, the twisting of the non-spinnable thread is mastered perfectly. The result is braids of urban beauty and archaic structure in a variety of patterns. Furthermore, the thread of the sisal plant is used, this agave provides the famous solid cord with the rough surface. The handles made of genuine leather are always sewn and quilted, so that the carrying capacity of our baskets (depending on the version) can be up to 25 kg. We guarantee 15 kg. The body and shell are sewn using cotton or raffia thread. As a decorative application, we also use cotton fabrics, the protective cover inside is made of artificial silk. All colors used are mineral and non-chemical, but not waterproof. The UV stability is not infinitely high for natural products, but the bags are easily compostable as waste after your hopefully long life.
